We want to keep you informed about an important new regulation recently introduced by the Ontario Ministry of Labour. Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) Regulation 480/24 – Washroom Facilities: Records of Cleaning was released, and it will come into effect on January 1, 2026.

This regulation requires that all employers and constructors make washroom cleaning records available to workers. To comply, cleaning records must show the the two most recent cleanings, and be accessible in one of two ways:

  • Posted in a visible location near the washroom, or
  • Shared electronically, with clear instructions for how workers can access the records.

At Emerald Caretakers Ltd., we’re committed to making this transition as smooth as possible for you.

We are currently preparing our internal processes and signage to fully comply with the regulation ahead of the January 2026 deadline.
